Statement from Assemblymember Reilly in response to recent remarks made by Mayor de Blasio on the COVID-19 vaccination of students in public schools

“As I have stated previously, I believe that it is an individual’s personal choice as to whether they receive the COVID-19 vaccine or not.  The same applies to those under the age of 18, whose parents should have the right to provide consent before inoculation occurs.”

Statement from Assemblymember Reilly on Governor Cuomo’s attempt to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations for college students

“I believe that it should be an individual’s choice as to whether they want to receive the vaccine, and, to be clear, I do not support mandating this vaccine when we know so little about the long-term effects it may have on young adults, primarily on young women.”

Statement from Assemblymember Reilly following the passage of the FY 2021-2022 New York State budget

“As New York continues to deal with implications from the COVID-19 Pandemic, as well as the economic crisis that began long before then, there’s arguably no denying that this was one of the most important budgets in our state’s history.  This was a budget that should have focused on New York’s recovery, above all else, while also taking steps to rein in the out-of-control spending that Albany has become so well known for.  Instead, one-party rule produced a budget that was weighed down by partisan policy and leaves little for taxpayers to celebrate.”

Assemblymembers Reilly & Tannousis introduce legislation to address shortsighted loophole created during rushed effort to legalize marijuana in New York

Reilly and Tannousis believe that the State Legislature’s current proposal fails to deter individuals from driving-while-high, especially those who are under the age of 21.  The MRTA presents many issues, mainly the impact that it will have on traffic safety.  There is a great deal of concern that it will become virtually impossible to hold those who drive under the influence of marijuana criminally responsible, endangering both motorists and pedestrians.

Statement from Assemblymember Reilly following remarks made earlier today by Governor Cuomo

“As Governor Cuomo and his administration become further embroiled in scandal, it has become clear to me that he is no longer able to serve effectively without distraction.  States throughout the country are reopening and New York must soon follow, beginning a new chapter of the post-pandemic recovery that will undoubtedly require the full attention of not just our legislative leaders, but of the Governor as well.  Governor Cuomo’s thinly veiled threats against sitting elected officials, as well as his repeated denial of misconduct in regard to several scandals, will only distract from our state’s recovery.”
