Reilly appointed Vice Chair of the Assembly Minority Conference; Receives committee assignments for 2023-2024 legislative session

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 5, 2023

ALBANY, NY — It was announced today that Assemblyman Michael Reilly (R,C-Staten Island) has been appointed Vice Chair of the Assembly Minority Conference by Minority Leader William Barclay (R,C-Pulaski).

As Vice Chair, Reilly’s responsibilities will include working with senior leadership to coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Conference, as well as working with leadership from across the aisle to develop policies that benefit all New Yorkers.

“Since his first day in Albany, Mike Reilly has been a strong, effective voice for the people of Staten Island and a vital part of the Republican Conference,” said Barclay. “I’m proud and fortunate to appoint him to our leadership team and I know his experience will be instrumental to our agenda and to the Assembly committees on which he serves.”

“I am incredibly humbled to have been chosen for this role by Leader Barclay and look forward to getting back to work for the people of New York,” said Reilly. “There is so much that must be addressed by the state legislature over the next two years, from the failed bail law and public safety, to an affordability crisis of historic proportions — the bottom line is that this legislature has got its work cut out, and, like always, the Assembly Minority Conference is prepared to be a voice of reason for common sense policymaking.”

Reilly was also appointed to another two-year term as Ranking Member of the Assembly’s Committee on Cities, which reviews legislation affecting the state’s 62 cities. Additionally, Reilly was assigned to the Committees on Codes, Education, Governmental Employees, Higher Education, and Rules.
